Pharaoh Hound Owners of the NorthEast (aka PHONE) started to come together in late 2008 with our first meeting at an AKC lure coursing trial in NJ. We had a lot of folks attend and a huge amount of interest in getting this group going. In 2009 we had several meetings, 2 events (fun run in May and fun match in July) and we finalized our founding members list with 16 households and over 150 years of experience in this versatile breed . During 2010 we had several meetings, started LGRA (straight racing) events, and held a supported entry at the PHCA National/Eastern weekend. In 2011, we had a supported entry at the New Brunswick Kennel Club show in March, and hosted an ASFA fun trial (lure coursing) in May.
Our goal is to be recognized by the AKC and to be able to hold conformation shows for our beloved breed in addition to all the performance events.
We love our name and hope to get shirts soon with "Can you hear us now?" on them. We and our dogs are loud and proud and this question next to a barking PH, is just perfect.
